Palantype for the 21st century
The Keytel e-Scribe is a
top-of-the-range Palan System Keyboard designed to help the Palan writer to work
more efficiently.
Although sharing the basic 31 key Palan layout,
the e-Scribe has been designed from the ground up as an
all-new Palantype writer, incorporating unprecedented new features with everyday
practicality.
The most obvious new feature which can be seen in the pictures
above is the single centre key, which allows single-key deletion using either
hand. The most obvious feature which cannot be seen in the photographs is the
lack of wires connected to the machine. It is in fact wireless, cord-free and
battery powered - which means that the writer is no longer tethered to the PC by
serial or USB cables in normal use, and thanks to the high capacity battery
there is no need for a power cord except in emergencies. The e-Scribe has undergone extensive live testing in public, during which the battery lasted
more than 48 working hours. It also features the unique and perfectly balanced
Keytel "I" key, which avoids the problems of previous designs.
- TOTALLY WIRELESS In today’s cable-free world, why should you be tied to your
transcription PC or lap-top with wires? The only time you will have to plug your
e-Scribe into anything is to charge the high-capacity battery between uses.
The e-Scribe communicates with your transcription software completely wirelessly
with an effective range of over 10 metres, meaning no cables to worry
about plugging in or tripping over.
- FAST CORRECTIONS Forget making corrections the old way, with the right-hand
"home keys". If you make an error, you can now correct it on-the-fly
with a single stroke of the new delete key, which is centrally located for
swift access by either hand without breaking your stride.
- LONG BATTERY LIFE The first and major concern of
any battery-powered
device is "what happens when it runs out?!" With a battery life of 48
hours continuous operation on a single charge proven in high-profile tests, you can be
confident that you will never have to worry about your work being interrupted by
a flat battery. The bright and highly visible status lights give you plenty of
advance warning when you are running low. The supplied external
mains-powered charger is of an ‘intelligent’ design, which will ensure your
battery stays in top condition, extending its life. It fully charges your
machine in 3 hours, and unlike previous designs will not overcharge and weaken
your battery.
- EMERGENCY POWER If, for whatever reason, you are caught out and are unable to
charge your empty battery in time, the e-Scribe can be powered from any nearby
PC or laptop using the space-saving emergency USB power cable. This removes the need to carry a
charger or power supply with you as a backup. You have the best of both worlds -
the portability and flexibility of battery operation, yet without the hassle
of carrying a charger around in case of emergency.
- RELIABLE KEYS The redesigned and specially manufactured "I" key
offers a major increase in stability over that found in older writers. The large
central key is often struck with some force at oblique angles during fast
writing, and many users have experienced problems with a detached key cap as a
result. Keytel’s new design ensures the keycap stays firmly in place and
retains a firm, stable feel. In fact, the whole keyboard has already received
praise for its fast, light and accurate feel.
- QUALITY CONSTRUCTION The e-Scribe is also built to last, with high structural
integrity and a thick, impact-resistant housing. The keys are slightly
recessed to prevent wear or damage from lateral forces while in transit. If you’ve
