Keytel Business Systems Ltd was formed in 1992 to provide a consultative approach to voice and data equipment and networks for small and medium sized businesses who may not have in-house expertise. In 1998 Keytel joined with Taphon, taking over their data interests and handing over the Keytel telecomms business in return. Keytel therefore gained access to Taphon's highly regarded technical and engineering teams whilst Taphon was better positioned for the much heralded convergence of computers and telecomms.

With staff ranging from vastly experienced office equipment engineers who repaired typewriters, teleprinters and the original word processors to younger engineers straight from University, Keytel are almost uniquely positioned in the modern world of personal computers. We have developed a range of microprocessor based products using personal and industrial computer systems for various clients, designed and installed wired and wireless Ethernet networks, Bluetooth networks and implemented mobile data access via Bluetooth and GPRS.

As of December 2004, Keytel have also taken over the maintenance of the Palan phonetics-based shorthand transcription machine used extensively in UK courts and as an aid for the hard of hearing.
